Synopsis

In the eleventy years since I created this blog, I made one entry, and there were nine views. (What were those nine people thinking?) I have another blog, to which I will not link, that I intend(ed) to use for software development. It has two posts and 12 views! I think we all can agree that I'm not much of a blogger. Nevertheless, I'm re-purposing this blog, and will try to make a go of it.

The new focus is woodworking, primarily (if not exclusively), with hand-tools. The purpose is to record what I'm learning, what I'm making, and, perhaps, to become a member of the larger woodworking community.

For some background, I developed an interest in woodworking maybe half-a-dozen years ago. My father was a hobbyist, but he passed when I was a teen, and didn't really encourage my participation when he was alive. On the other hand, I've always liked wood; the smell of fresh cut lumber, the satin feel when well planed or sanded, the range of designs, and the look of well-crafted furniture. When I went to art museums, I'd often take a quick stroll through the furniture collection. Visiting friends or relatives, I'd notice, and sometimes examine, any interesting wooden furniture. But, that appreciation of wood never solidified into anything until I got interested in computers.

Huh? you might ask. Well, how about this:

Or this:

I'm nowhere near ready for stuff like that, but I hope to get there.

And, that's what this blog is about.
